What Are Fallen Angels?

What Are Fallen Angels

According to Jewish and Christian beliefs, God created all Angels to be Holy. In general, Angels are known as God’s messengers who spread warmth, love, and peace. However, not all of God’s Angels believe in His message. When Angels sin and give in to temptation, they fall from God’s grace and turn into Fallen Angels.

Fallen Angels are referred to as devils, demons, and evil unclean spirits in the Bible. They are Satan’s immoral agents who are tasked with leading people into the temptation to sin. Fallen Angels only have evil in whatever is left of their soul. Their mission is the opposite of that of faithful Angels, as they wish to lead people away from God rather than closer to Him.

The Fall of Lucifer

Lucifer is the original Fallen Angel who succumbed to his own pride and was cast out of Heaven for it. Before his fall from grace, Lucifer was one of God’s Archangels. He was one of God’s most beautiful creations, but he let his pride and jealousy of God get the better of him. Lucifer decided that he could wrest power from God and openly rebelled against the Creator. Isiah 14:12 describes the moment Lucifer was cast out of Heaven for his schemes:

“How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!”

There were many Angels who sided with Lucifer and they waged a war against God and the faithful Angels. From Revelation 12:7 – 9:

“Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down — that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”

After his fall from Heaven, Lucifer became known as Satan or the Devil. The Angels who sided with him were also cast out and became demons. Although many Angels sided with Lucifer, according to Jewish and Christian beliefs, only about one-third of all of God’s Angels fell. This means that the faithful Angels far outnumber those who have fallen.

Leading People Away From God

When Lucifer fell from Heaven and became Satan, he made it his goal to lead as many people away from God as he can. His Fallen Angels do his bidding and try to lead people into sinning as often as they can. Demons tempt and entice people to turn their backs on God. Satan and the other Fallen Angels are liars and deceivers; they whisper honeyed words that lure you away from your faith.

Fallen Angels are extremely deceptive and have the ability to disguise themselves as Holy Angels. From 2 Corinthians 11:14 – 15:

“Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”

People are often led far astray through these lies and deceptions. Some people may even abandon their faith completely and give in to the evil teachings of demons. Fallen Angels are so powerful in their evil ways that they even have the ability to possess people and destroy their minds, bodies, and souls.

How to Protect Yourself Against Fallen Angels

Although the thought of a Fallen Angel coming to tempt you may be daunting, do not despair, for there are ways to protect yourself from their evil. It’s important to remember that we are all waging a spiritual battle here in the fallen world. The invisible Fallen Angels are all around us and trying to lure us into temptation. Remember to stay strong and not to let your guard down. You must remain vigilant against the evil forces of the world.

Although the Angels are there for us to reach out to at any time, be careful of when and how often you call out to them. Fallen Angels can take that opportunity to answer your cries and manipulate you while disguised as a Holy Angel.

When you receive a message from an Angel, be sure to carefully examine what has been revealed to you. Be mindful that Fallen Angels may speak false messages and prophecies. From John 4:1:

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Perhaps the most important way to protect yourself from Satan and the other Fallen Angels is to actively follow your faith. Do what you know in your heart is right every day and trust that God will lead you down the right path. Hold on tight to your faith and do not succumb to the temptation of following the Fallen Angels.
